I recently hung out with an old friend who is now engaged...GO GIRL!!! Yes, this was our screaming, slap happy moment after countless failed relationships and just BS in general. We're both almost 30 (28 to be exact), and with events like ten-year class reunions (to remind us we are not so young anymore-not OLD- but not young either) I personally have started reevaluating my benchmark goals. I was never the girl dreaming about her wedding ring...I dreamed about the first pair of Jimmy Choo's I'd wear to my first board meeting. I wanted to develop ME and be the best me before becoming one with someone else. Don't get me wrong, I did want the complete American dream with the $100K+/year career, house, husband, 2.5 children, dog, and brick red (not white, brick red) picket fence and eggshell/pearl Escalade. I've always been modest in what I want in a man as well as life. I do want to love him, get along with him, have fun with him, worship with him, and for the sake of pro-creating, be attracted to him physically. Living in Atlanta, Ga there are about 12 women for every one man; and with half the men here being homosexual, it's really like 24:1 women:men). The "straight" men have become a hot commodity, and they generally act as if they are oil. The result is the beautiful, successful, intelligent, and sweet women generally lower their standards, take abuse/mistreatment that should not be tolerated, are terribly insecure, and utterly desperate. Yet, there are some who find a balance. Like my friend who is now engaged. She admitted that typically, her fiance is not what she would go for, or what she necessarily WANTS, but she is adamant that when it comes to what she NEEDS in a man, he fits the bill. Apparently, she isn't attracted to him, but he has qualities she likes. I've witnessed her in love before- and she wasted no time professing it though it was already obvious. I wondered, has she compromised on what's more important (prioritized what she desires in a man) or has she, like many other women, settled for what she could get. If she, formerly being so much more picky than I am, has settled, then I really don't know what my chances are finding what I want without having to settle. I don't expect Vin Diesel or Tyrese with money like Bill Gates and a sexual prowess that puts Casanova to shame - but I do expect most of what I want in a man and I should be most of what he wants. I would never want someone to settle for me because I was a safe bet - I actually want to be desired and wanted. I want to give my man the same. Yet, every woman I know that has recently married, or that is getting married, has had to lower her standards and give up on the notion of being in love. Especially in the minority community where a significant number of our young, fully equipped men are in prison, gay, addicted to drugs, and/or disheartedly unemployed quitters (those who won't try anymore). Is it a fairy tale to add "love" and "attraction" to the list that qualifies a potential mate; unrealistic to believe that every qualified, deserving woman will be able to find a qualified, deserving man? The qualifications are case-by-case of course (there should ideally be someone for everyone, no matter what the type or preferences are). Being the mother of a pre-teen who herself desires to see me in a relationship, and after putting so much into her and trying to pursue my career dreams (and that yielding no fruit in light of the recent recession) - being in a healthy relationship is starting to become more and more important to me. Why is the spark I used to feel with him gone?

I like the concept, I think you should stick with it! I think you should tell the story from both the girl and Winslow's point of view. At first the girl should be absolutely terrified of him, but over time she begins to warm up to him because he is kind to her. I think that at some point in the story, he should tell her she can go...and she does. And have her go back home and spend a little time there and have her family begin mistreating her again so she willingly goes back to Winslow's. Just a thought!

Okay, before I expect an answer, I'll go into some detail. I've always been considered a "quiet" person up until I graduated high school. I'm 20, and he's 28. And I'm rather childlike and immature in a lot of ways, while he is very reserved (never swears, always polite). Because of this difference, we argue sometimes. Lately I have been noticing on my history tab that someone gets into my email and views friends requests from Facebook or other sights. I have had instances where I know of a person I had added and they would send me a message (most of them women) and I would not get it, only to be told later by them in person that they have tried to send me a message and the reply would be someone or "me" telling them to either screw off or to stop messaging me. Is there a way to find out who or if someone is getting into my email and doing this? Is there a possibility that someone can be remotely hacking my computer. I have a suspicion that it's my significant other getting into my email and stuff, she is very insecure and very conniving. I also have this suspicion that she could have one of her friends hacking,that is very knowledgeable in doing that or monitoring my email or internet history. I swear, I don't leave it signed in. Questions about building muscle/burning fat?

I am an adult male who currently owns a pull-up bar and am hoping that I can build muscle with this piece of equipment. My questions are: Is it REALLY possible to build significant muscle with a pull-up bar? If I incorporate cardio into my routine, will that be counter-productive to building muscle? I'm from Middle America and I'm getting very concerned about what to wear at a camp composed of primarily chic New Yorkers. I will be staying in New Jersey and I am really hoping to make many close friendships while there, but I'm afraid of being the "jersey girl" who has to take a bus and walk a mile to get to classes. I started a trilogy a while back but was unable to ever find the third of the series, so I figured I would come back to find it and read it later. Unfortunately, I have forgotten the names of both the series and the first two books, as well as the author. I only remember I loved the adventure-style of the book and hated the fact that the person who they build up for you to believe to be the main character is killed at the end of the first book, and that it is actually his son who fits the legend. Why does my cousin act this way?

Ok so I'm 19 and my (male) cousin is 23. We've grown up together pretty close; our mothers are sisters and kinda like best friends. He was the only child, and I had a younger brother. How do I convince my mom to let me set up my swimming pool?

I was so sure of the two names I was definitely naming my baby until it was actually time to pick a name. Originally I wanted to name my first daughter McKenzie Blair. Blair is my grandmother's middle name and she means a lot to me so I would like to incorporate the name Blair but not as a first name. The name for my first son I was set on was Hunter Thomas. I feel that is just a very strong name. I don't like McKenzie as much anymore because it has become very common. The father's name is Troy. I want ideas on creative names. Is it possible to lose significant amounts of weight after your wisdom teeth are removed?

I am needing to get my 3 wisdom teeth removed and was wondering if it is possible to lose weight afterward. One of them is sitting on a nerve and just was curious if that could cause weight gain, so that if the teeth are removed the weight could come off. I am not in anyway saying it's the only reason for my weight gain. I have had my thyroid checked and diabetes tests and also have not been working or exercising. This question is mainly directed toward to college students. How dangerous is a head CT scan?

Before you guys call me out on my carcinophobia, I am doing significantly better today than yesterday. I did have one head CT a little over 2 weeks ago though and I am slightly worried about the radiation exposure. I read somewhere that this procedure averages about 2 mSv, which is significantly less than the FDA max, but I'm wondering if this one scan carries a cancer risk? It's the only CT I've ever had, and I've only had a handful of X-rays of my teeth as far as other screenings are concerned. Is this significant?

We're boy and girl and we're best friends. We just finished our first year of college. You just have to relax, you will always have somebody criticizing you on something. How does it take to get workout results?

During the school year the gym class i took was personal fitness (weightlifting, cardio, etc...) and i took it twice a week for about 45 minutes. i clearly got stronger but i didnt notice any major changes with my definition. after school ended i joined my local gym and i have been going 3 times a week for about 1.5- 2 hours. its only been a couple weeks and i do a pretty complete workout when i go (it push myself until it really burns) i am just wondering how long it will take to see significant changes. i would like a professional opinion from this because everyone works out differently

I suggest you don't sing from the show. If the director said you should sing a song from the show, sing Maybe. It's prettier and not overdone. I feel it captures Annie's personality more because it can show her sad side when she thinks about her parents, while it also shows her optimistic side. I am having testicular pain. Is there any significant danger, and what should I do about it?

I am a 16 year old male, and I am having pain localized to the bottom of my left testicle. For a few months about a year and a half ago, I was having similar pain. While it was less severe, it was more frequent. After a while, it simply went away and i thought it was gone until about a week ago when the pain returned stronger than ever. Every other day or so, for the last week, i have had episodes of testicular pain (about a 6 on a scale of 1-10) that last about a minute, then go away. If i touch the bottom of my left testicle during an episode, the pain is significantly increased, but it does not hurt to the touch at any other time. I'm not sure if this is relevant or if this happens to everyone, but my testicles sometimes feel very sore after masturbating. I have done a bit of research, but nothing seems to quite fit my symptoms. I did see one website in which it was suggested that excessive masturbation could be the cause, but I masturbate once a day with rare exception, which would not be considered "excessive." Another website suggested a bacterial infection, but I have been on antibiotics multiple times over the last year for sinus infections, and I do not have a Fever or any other symptoms of infection, so that is pretty much ruled out. Some websites suggested that it may be an STD, but I am a virgin which rules that out. Another has been testicular torsion, which, as this has been inconsistent pain for more than a year, it seems unlikely. I have also come across testicular cancer as a possibility, but i checked and did not notice any abnormalities or differences between my two testicles. Additionally, there is absolutely no history of cancer in my family except for my grandmother who has lymphoma so mild that nothing needed to be done about it. Finally, there has been no potential injury to my testicles. Do you have any other ideas of what it could be? Do you think there is any significant immediate danger? Thank you so much.

If i cut out all junk food from my diet and eat healthy, calorie counting, switch to whole wheat, etc.. with the exception of one cheat day a week (so i dont go insane) and take my dog for at least a 30 minute walk day, will i lose about 10 pounds and then maintain my weight. the dream doesn't die when lennie kills curly's wife, it's when it crystalizes in george's head that lennie must die. the story is much more about george and his progression towards redemption (through lennie) which he ultimately fails at when he destroys lennie, than lennie's progression towards killing the wife. lennie throughout the story is one character, a consistent, innocent, brutal man. it is george who sees him any other way and whose eyes are opened towards the end.

My suggestion would be to point out to her that you've already had a lot of time a part, and if it's something she see's working in the future, perhaps it's more practical to see if she can balance friends and family and her time while being in a relationship. If you tell her that though, then I guess you better be committed to making sure you can promise to give her space she needs in a relationship, and follow through on that promise. I'm sure right now anything seems better than bot seeing her at all, so that shouldn't be too hard. He comes into class and frequently sits in his unassigned seat and incessantly talks with his neighbor. He pretends not to listen to me when I ask him to do something. If your veterinarian is recommending to test for Addison's (usually done by a blood test called ACTH stimulation) I would do it. Addison's isn't very common, but after trying all the testing and treatments that you already have for your dog that were inconclusive and did not help, it's certainly the next step to see if maybe this is the answer. Usually Addison's is linked to findings on electrolytes (sodium potassium ratio), and as you said there were no significant findings when this test was performed on your dog, but keep in mind that not all cases have all symptoms. Ranking 256 as a shortstop isn't bad by any means since it is a scarce position. Pedroia has been injured the whole season since his collision with JJ Hardy (we are just now learning of it), and now he will probably be going on the DL soon. Doesn't look good for him. Tomlin doesn't have much effect on the decision since he has been pitching poorly as of late and is coming back to Earth.
