What is the difference between being an adult child and being an adult with childlike qualities?

"Adult child" is a psychological term used for an adult who was abused as a child. It is usually used in conjunction with a descriptive phrase: adult child of an alcoholic, adult child of sexual abuse, etc. It means that even though the person is physically and chronologically an adult, they are still carrying the emotional scars of childhood.
