Galleries in the capital region, NY?

I was wondering if anybody knows where to find good galleries, shows, or places generally associated with the art community in the capital region: Albany, Schenectady, Troy, or even Saratoga-ish? I am an amateur artist trying to expand his knowledge and possibly gain connections.
