Which sentence do you think is grammatically correct?

My preference is to use a comma to separate two clauses that (aside from the conjunction) could be standalone sentences themselves. While "gambit is a trickster" is a simple sentence, " insane childlike person" is not a sentence. I would vote for the first choice.
